Rescued dog helps ease depression of Texas woman with cancer

Scooter was 3 years, 4 months, and 9 days old when he ended up at the SPCA in April. He’s one of many older larger dogs occupying kennels there for too long.
That’s when Alma Chavez rescued Scooter, and Scooter rescued her.
Chavez has stage 1 uterus cancer. Her uncle has stage 4.
With the depression of cancer and a recent loss of another dog, her doctor gave her a prescription – get a new dog. That’s just what she did.
