LATHAM, N.Y. (WNYT)- The Stewart’s Shop at the corner of Watervliet-Shaker and Old Loudon Roads will be closing February 2. According to the company, the shop, open in 1981, is no longer big enough to accommodate customers needs like gas and has limited space for food-to-go like sandwiches or soups.

“We thank our longtime customers and encourage them to shop at our 605 Loudon Road location about a half mile south of the Watervliet Shaker Road shop,” the company said Friday evening. “The decision to close the shop is no way an indication that Stewart’s is reducing services in the community.”

The shops 10 employees will be working at other locations and the company said it plans on building a larger store at 956 Loudon Road in Latham later in the year.
