Catskill teen making strides in cancer battle

A Catskill teen who’s been battling cancer is now improving.

NewsChannel 13 first introduced you to Nahviya Chapple in the summer of 2022. She had just experienced the time of her life. Kelly’s Angels had sent her to a Harry Styles concert at Madison Square Garden. Nahviya told us she loved every minute of it.

Fast-forward to this summer and Nahviya was having extensive, invasive operations to replace her esophagus and reconstruct a stoma.

She pulled through 18 hours of surgery in Boston, and she’s on the mend, able to eat again and even getting outside to do a little painting, with all her machines and wires attached.

Nahviya will be in the hospital for another three weeks, but things are looking up.
