Albany County is taking more steps to improve school bus safety.

County Executive Dan McCoy joined local school and municipal leaders Monday to unveil messaging now on the back of some CDTA buses, showing that everyone, in all lanes, must stop for the flashing school bus lights.

A representative from McCoy’s office said in the first three months of this year, and in the only one month in the Bethlehem School District, fines issued have totaled more $700,000.

An estimated 900 tickets a month have been issued in the South Colonie School District during that time.
