Volunteers were at Saddlewood Elementary School in the South Colonie School District Wednesday, working all-day to build a playground in honor of a little girl who passed away from cancer.

This group is the Where Angels Play Foundation.

This is the 63rd playground they are building in the name of someone who has passed tragically.

That little girl is Charlie Fernandez, 7. She was such a light in this school community, never losing her inner strength.

She developed a beautiful connection with her first-grade teacher, Sarah Norton.

Their bond was featured in People Magazine in an article honoring teachers.
