A new First New York Federal Credit Union student-run branch is now open at the high school. It’s called the Legacy Branch.

This is the third in-school bank branch in the Capital Region.

The Patriot Branch at Schenectady High School is in its 19th year and the Spartan Branch at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake is in its second year.

Mohonasen High School students will volunteer as a teller, make transactions and earn rewards for their work.

Volunteers will be able to provide banking services to anyone in the school district, including students and staff.

It’s expected to help not just with financial literacy, but also with communication and interpersonal connections, the principal said.
