Groundbreaking held at Schenectady school for new athletic facility

Mont Pleasant Middle School in Schenectady is getting a new athletic facility.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday afternoon.

The project includes a new turf field as well as an expansion of the parking lot.

District leaders thanked the voters for giving the approval.

“This whole Schenectady Revitalization Project, which we had over 70% of the community vote and support, a $300 million capital project, this is a component to that process,” said Superintendent Anibal Solder Jr. “This kicks us off to the larger projects that will start happening in our school buildings.”

The entire Schenectady Revitalization Plan is set to be complete by 2030.
