The nonprofit Capital District Keys for Kids has been teaching children music for 20 years.

The program meets on Saturday morning at Giffen Memorial Elementary School in Albany. It was founded by Linda Mallory-Mitchell, who is the choir director at First Israel Church.

Its origins began when she realized that it was difficult to get musicians for the church. It started off with piano lessons and now includes vocal lessons as well as drumming and guitar lessons.

Find out why students like coming to the program instead of spending the morning playing video games or being on their found by watching Mark Mulholland’s story.
