A new grant will mean new mental health services for children in Schenectady County.

The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation is giving a $700,000 grant to Ellis Medicine.

Ellis plans to create a mental health crisis diversion program for kids ages 10 to 17.

The new program will be called “The Family Room.” It will be similar to the existing “Living Room” that currently serves adults.

The Family Room will operate out of State Street Health Center.

The space will be decorated as a home to offer a more comfortable space for young people dealing with a mental health crisis.

If the patient needs further help, they will be brought to the hospital from the center.
