Top Teacher: Sandy Fischer – Chatham High School
Sandy Fischer had no idea she would become a teacher. She got a bachelor’s degree in marine biology, and she planned to work with stranded dolphins and whales in Texas.
However, her mom got cancer. So she moved back home and ended up going into teaching science.
Fischer also spends a lot of time with the Chatham High School robotics team, Artemis, and the group just won big at a recent competition.
Now in her 25th year of being in the classroom, Fischer says she loves it.
Fisher was surprised to know she was nominated as a NewsChannel 13-Broadview Top Teacher. Her students on the other hand said she’s more than deserving.
“Devoted,” “kind” and “generous” are just a few of the repeated words people use to describe her.
Hear some of her students discuss what they like about her by watching the video of Faith King’s story.
