A walkout ceremony was held Friday afternoon for Troy Fire Chief Eric McMahon, as he finished his last shift with the department.
A crowd gathered to honor the chief – including city, county and state lawmakers.
County Executive Steve McLaughlin and Mayor Patrick Madden thanked and honored him for his 34 years of service.
McMahon has served with the department for 34 years.
He says he’s flattered that everyone showed up to support him in his next journey.
“The amount of people that came out in support of me … it’s overwhelming. I feel undeserving of all the attention being focused on me,” McMahon said.
McMahon has taken a job with a major company in the Capital Region.
