ALBANY – Advocacy groups and state legislators were heading to the state Capitol Monday to call on Gov. Hochul to sign the Puppy Mill Pipeline bill.
In the spring, the New York State Legislature passed the New York State Puppy Mill Pipeline Act, banning the sale of dogs, cats and rabbits at retail pet stores.
Many animals sold in retail shops come from animal mills, known for their inhumane actions.
The legislation would allow retail pet stores to partner with area shelters and rescues to adopt animals.
