Reflecting on how Bob Kovachick has impacted the Capital Region

His name is arguably the most well known in the Capital Region. He’s been in our living rooms, and a part of our lives, for generations.
We grew up, and many of our children grew up, watching Bob.
He was a staple at our schools and our senior centers.
What you see on TV is what you get in person.
It’s that sincerity, and eagerness to poke fun at himself, that has endeared him to countless viewers through the years. Thousands of people wishing him well in retirement.
His name is arguably the most well known in the Capital Region. He's been in our living rooms, and a part of our lives, for generations.
With or without his signature mustache, Bob Kovachick is real, and his love for weather is too.
It all started in Port Chester, NY. He was just 12.
Bob is the son of the late Jane and George Kovachick. His mom worked at an insurance office and volunteered at the local hospital. His dad delivered milk.
When Bob was first on the air in the 1970s, his parents were so proud that they’d drive up to the area and stay at a hotel, just so they could watch him on TV.
They were proud. Just like Bob is of his two adult children, Sarah, and Harrison. The feeling is mutual.
