Organizations that help the homeless are preparing for the wintry weather.
Albany’s Homeless & Travelers Aid Society has called a Code Blue alert through Friday. This means that people who are homeless can spend the night at the Capital City Rescue Mission on South Pearl Street, The Lutheran Church on State Street, or the Safe Haven on South Swan Street.
In Saratoga Springs, the Code Blue shelter on Adelphi Street will be open again Tuesday evening.
The executive director of Shelters of Saratoga says they’ve been open nine nights so far this season and the numbers of people seeking shelter has been very high. They hosted 51 people Monday night.
Code Blue is triggered when temperatures are expected to drop below 32 degrees.
