The Albany County District Attorney’s Office is calling for updates to the state’s impaired driving laws.
The Vehicular Crimes Unit of the district attorney’s office is calling on the New York State Legislature to pass a bill. It would update impaired driving laws to coincide with the legalization of adult use cannabis in New York.
The bill would change how the word “drug” is defined, including all substances that impair a person’s ability to drive a motor vehicle.
The district attorney’s office wants to remind everyone to have fun this Memorial Day, but to drive safely and not drive under the influence.
