Samantha Humphrey’s mother, Jaclyn Humphrey, confirms to NewsChannel 13 that the jacket found near the Mohawk River last weekend and posted on social media was definitely her daughter’s.
Searchers were still out in Riverside Park Thursday looking for any sign of the missing teen.
Samantha, 14, was last seen Friday night. That’s when police say she went to Riverside Park in Schenectady to meet up with a former boyfriend. The two teens met up on or near an old railroad bridge at the south end of the park.
Sources tell NewsChannel 13 that Samantha was involved in a physical altercation with the ex-boyfriend that same night she went missing.

According to Samantha’s mother, her daughter bit the ex-boyfriend on his arm during the altercation. The mother’s suspicion only grew from that moment on.
State police divers were in the chilly Mohawk River much of Thursday, searching for evidence or perhaps a body. Those divers left the scene late Thursday afternoon.
A state police K-9 unit was also back, scouring the river bank.
Samantha’s mother said her daughter told her, her school counselors, and friends the ex-boyfriend was abusive. That’s why she told her daughter to stay away from him.
Jaclyn also asked her son to get in touch with Samantha’s friends – including the ex-boyfriend – to find out what he could.
Meantime, NewsChannel 13 is also learning Samantha is good friends with another missing teen, Hajile Howard, who hasn’t been seen since Nov. 9. However, police say right now, they don’t believe Hajile is in any danger.
