A high honor for one local police chief as he nears retirement.

Each year, the Massachusetts Chiefs of Police Association recognizes the police chief that genuinely stood out that year.

This year, they unanimously selected Pittsfield Police Chief Michael Wynn.

The group also announced Chief Wynn was selected by the governor and attorney general to serve on the new Massachusetts Post Commission.

The post – Peace Officer Standards and Training – is tasked with creating a mandatory certification process for police officers.
