It’s been an unseasonably mild start to the new year. While many people aren’t complaining – that can make things tricky for the ski industry.
The general manager of the West Mountain Ski Resort in Queensbury, Sara Montgomery said they’re still open. The lack of snow is not an issue, but the warm temperatures can make things challenging. “All of our trails are lined with snow guns, she said. We can make snow. Most ski areas they have to have snowmakers now because you can’t rely on natural snow anymore.”
Montgomery said they had a really good week during the holidays, because it was colder.
They had to shut down briefly due to rain, but they are back open.
