Mavis Discount Tire made its case Wednesday for getting out of the lawsuits related to the deadly 2018 Schoharie limousine crash.
The company told the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division that they’re not responsible for the crash. Mavis’ attorney argued the owner and operator of the limo are responsible.
The families of the people killed are suing the Hussain Family, saying they put the limo on the road when they knew it wasn’t safe.
They’re also suing Mavis because they serviced the limo at its Saratoga Springs shop before the crash and even put an inspection sticker on the stretch Excursion, even though they couldn’t legally inspect it because stretch limos require an official DOT inspection.
The Supreme Court Appellate Division will also hear arguments next week from attorneys for Nauman Hussain in his effort to get Judge Peter Lynch to restore the plea agreement that would sentence Hussain to probation and no jail time.
