Suspect arraigned in Albany’s first homicide of the year

A man was arraigned Thursday in Albany County Court for a murder. It was the city’s first homicide of the year.

Kerdel Young, 37, is accused in the shooting death of Anthony Dias, 39, at the intersection of Sherman and Quail streets, earlier this month.

Dias had been involved with an ongoing dispute with Young, said police, who don’t think the shooting was random.

Young is in the Albany County Jail.
