Assemblyman Angelo Santabarbara joined COVID survivors and their families at the state Capitol on Wednesday.
The group is pushing for new legislation that would establish college scholarships for young people who lost parents, siblings or caregivers to COVID-19.
Qualifying students will get money to attend a state university, if the bill passes.
Nearly 15,000 children lost a parent or caregiver to COVID in New York state.
