Lawyer analyzing Saratoga Springs shooting says possible gun law violations may play bigger role

The Vito Caselnova case might not be as much about attempted murder and assault as it about violating New York state’s strict gun laws, local attorney Paul DerOhannesian said.
Despite the release of police body cam videos, DerOhannesian pointed out there is still a lot we don’t know about this case, and he cautions folks not to jump to any conclusions.
Included in the eight-count indictment against Caselnova is a felony charge of possessing a firearm in a sensitive location.
There’s also a felony charge of possessing a large capacity ammunition feeding device.
Even though one of the three men with whom Caselnova was feuding during that dangerous gun battle also apparently possessed a weapon in a sensitive location, Caselnova – an off-duty sheriff’s deputy – was the only individual indicted.
