Nauman Hussain is scheduled to be sentenced on May 31 for his role in the Schoharie limo crash. Not even 24 hours after his guilty verdict, his attorney said he is going to file a bail application.
Hussain was convicted of manslaughter Wednesday for the 2018 Schoharie limo crash that killed 20 people.
NewsChannel 13 caught up with Nauman Hussain’s attorney, Lee Kindlon right after the verdict came down from the jurors.
The next steps are to fill out the bail application – pending an appeal – he said.
Kindlon said he’s heartbroken over the outcome of the case and has built a close relationship with Hussain and his family over the last four-and-a-half years.
However, he also understands the pain and suffering the families of all 20 victims have gone through, and that it’s finally over. He says he’s also heartbroken for everybody involved.
The guilty verdict for Hussain came after a day-and-a-half of deliberations.
Hussain was accused of not getting proper work done on the limo, not getting it inspected and maintaining the brakes on the Ford Excursion stretch limo.
Kindlon said his client deserves bail.
“Nauman has made every court appearance. Through COVID, he went to probation every week. So I’m a little disappointed the judge decided to lock him up today, but not surprised,” Kindlon said.
NewsChannel 13 hopes to speak with Kindlon again soon and get more details on the bail application.
