Migrants arrive at Colonie hotel via New York City bus

Migrants driven from New York City have arrived at a Colonie hotel, the Times Union reported.

The more than 20 asylum-seekers were sent to the SureStay Plus Hotel on Wolf Road.

Many local and state officials are chiming in on this. Some said that didn’t find out about the migrant arrival until days before. Others said that’s simply not true.

Colonie Town Supervisor Peter Crummey said he found out late Friday that at least one busload of migrants from New York City would arrive to the Capital Region.  He said the migrants were supposed to go to the city of Albany.

The Times Union reported — those migrants arrived on Sunday.

Crummey said in a statement:

“The City of Albany, in spite of its sanctuary declaration, virtue signaling and with its hospitals, health agencies and social services offices within walking distance of some of its hotels, has chosen to facilitate its sanctuary status by advocating a location for outside of its borders in an area under-equipped to receive, process and monitor and provide daily care for migrants being jettisoned from NYC, another sanctuary city. In fact, the referenced site has been a hot bed of police activity where in the past 18 months our police have responded to no less than 244 calls at that location. Obviously, Mayor Adams pays no heed for the welfare of the persons subject to his forced bussing catastrophe.”

Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan responded, saying:

“For the Colonie town supervisor to say that the city of Albany had a hand in steering the bus to a hotel on Wolf Road is an outright lie. The facts are the city of New York put asylum seekers on a bus and chose Wolf Road. The city of New York is paying for those hotel rooms, as well as the food and services needed.”
