St. Clare’s pensioners’ lawsuit gets clearance from court to proceed
The St. Clare’s pensioners’ lawsuit against the Diocese of Albany will continue in state court. The bankruptcy court filed an order Thursday lifting the automatic stay, so that the lawsuit may proceed.
It’s been nearly five years since the pension for 1,100 employees at the hospital was wiped out.
The pension fund had been managed by top officials in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany. However, it did not have guaranteed insurance, which is coverage that would have protected the money.
