The papers say Hackworth allegedly attacked his mother and repeatedly stabbed her — causing serious injuries to her neck and shoulders.
Hackworth is also accused of injuring the 13-year-old by slashing the left side of his face and causing cuts to his chin and bottom lip. Hackworth is facing a slew of charges including second-degree attempted murder and two charges of second-degree assault.
According to the mother’s statement in the court documents, she asked Hackworth to help her as her TV was malfunctioning. Things escalated to an argument about paying for “bills” and “rent.” She says that’s when Hackworth attacked her. She said “It all happened so fast, I didn’t know I was bleeding.” Beckett also details how she got the neighbor involved by banging on the door until she answered.
Our Stella Porter spoke with that neighbor on Sunday. Hackworth is expected to be back in court on Aug. 24.
