New York state is seeing an increase of COVID hospitalizations.
New York state health officials started to see the rise in July, Gov. Hochul said.
Age and other factors determine who is most at risk, the governor said.
She noted that 80% of hospitalizations are people 65 and older and 88% of COVID deaths are people 65 and over.
“We have the tools we need – treatment, test, masks – but the best, most effective way to deal with this is getting the vaccine,” said Hochul.
