Schenectady man accused of fleeing police, crashing into two cars

A 21-year-old Schenectady man is facing multiple charges for allegedly fleeing from police and crashing his vehicle into two other cars.

Officers observed a vehicle operating recklessly and speeding in the area of Craig Street at about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Police said the driver, later identified as Ziyad Mohammed, fled from police when they attempted to stop him.

The vehicle quickly lost control and struck two other vehicles on Albany Street near Schenectady Street, according to police. One of the vehicles was occupied by two people and both had non-life threatening injuries.

Police arrested Mohammed at the scene. He was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment, third-degree assault, unlawful fleeing a police officer, obstructing governmental administration and numerous vehicle and traffic offenses.
