Firefighters rescued dog from Brunswick fire
Firefighters rescued a dog from a house fire in Brunswick on Friday.
The fire was reported at 2:43 p.m. at a house at 11 Weaver Ave. No one was home at the time of the fire. It began in the kitchen area, according to Speigeltown Fire Chief Lawrence Funk.
They were able to get the dog out of the house. It took about an hour to get the fire under control and firefighters remained at the scene for another couple hours for cleanup, according to Funk.
The cause is still under investigation. The damage was confirmed to the kitchen and there was smoke throughout the house, according to the fire chief.
In addition to Speigeltown, firefighters from other companies including Raymertown, Brunswick, Center Brunswick, Pleasantdale and Melrose also responded.
