Mohawk Hudson Humane Society needs help after reaching capacity
The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society is at capacity, with an influx of abandoned pets and strays. There are animals inside of offices and throughout the building. Now the organization is asking for the community’s help to get these pets into their forever homes.
The shelter is asking the public for donations, volunteers, and potential adopters to help alleviate the strain on their facilities.
Local government has stepped in to help.
Albany County Executive Dan McCoy joined the Albany Crime Victim & Sexual Violence Center Wednesday, as they donated pet supplies to the facility’s Safe Haven program. The program provides emergency care for pets when their owner enters a domestic violence shelter. They’ve cared for 10 cats and one dog this year.
