Officers: man who stole a new car in Queensbury pulled out kitchen knife on car salesman
The warren county sheriff’s office say Jules Lyons-Sylne pulled out a kitchen knife before taking off in a
2024 Mazda CX-90.
As we reported, investigators said Lyons-Sylne led officers on a chase on Tuesday, Dec. 26 after they say he stole a car he was test driving from Della Mazda in Queensbury.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office said Lyons-Sylne pulled out that knife during the test drive and robbed the car salesman who was sitting next to him.
Investigators said Lyons-Sylne left the salesman on the side of the road and took off in the Mazda.
The Warren County Sheriff’s Office spotted the car on Route 9 in Queensbury, not far from the dealership.
Deputies were joined by state police troopers on the chase that eventually continued on the Northway, but state police said they stopped the pursuit near exit 14 because it became a public safety concern.
A short time later they resumed the chase, eventually finding Lyons-Sylne in Colonie and following him for about 10 miles, bringing them to the Delmar bypass where officers popped all four tires.
Lyons-Sylne was charged with robbery, grand larceny and multiple traffic violations.
He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Warren County.
