A New York billionaire launched his political campaign to take on Democratic incumbent U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.

Businessman Josh Eisen made the announcement at the Empire State Plaza on Tuesday morning.

Eisen is the co-chairman of the Gov. George Pataki Foundation. He is running as a Republican.

Gillibrand has held the seat since 2009.
