Man pleads guilty to armed robbery of drug dealer

An Albany man has pleaded guilty to robbing a drug dealer back in 2022.

Jorge L. Rosario, 53, admitted in U.S. District Court that he and Alexander G. Madera entered a single family home in Guilderland with the goal of robbing a marijuana dealer, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

This happened Jan. 23, 2022 around 5 a.m.

Rosario was armed with a pistol and rifle. Rosario was on guard while Madera held the dealer at gunpoint in his bedroom and robbed him of $172 in drug money, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Other residents came to the victim’s aid and disarmed Rosario and Madera during a struggle. They were arrested and have remained in federal custody.

Rosario faces 14 years to 15 2/3 years in prison when sentenced on July 9.

Madera has already pleaded guilty to armed robbery and brandishing charges and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 3. He faces up to seven years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
