There are elevated levels of lead in the drinking water of some homes and buildings in Amsterdam, the city reported.
The lead was found during water quality monitoring by the city’s water treatment plant.
The city said it is concerned about the health of its residents.
City leaders share steps people can take including running your water to flush out your water pipes, using cold water for cooking and preparing baby formula, replacing plumbing fixtures and using bottled or filtered water.
The city said it is also working with the federal Environmental Protection Agency on a new initiative to get lead out of water pipes.
