Tractor-trailer crash on Thruway kills two
Two people are dead after a tractor trailer accident on I-87 in Albany Thursday morning. Sabrina Bermudez, 50, from Ludlow, Massachusetts and Paul Keiley, 64, from Rockville Centre, died at the scene, according to an update from New York State Police Friday morning.
The accident happened around 8 a.m. Thursday during the morning commute, closing all northbound lanes at Exit 23 for eight hours as crews worked on removing the overturned tractor-trailer. The driver of the tractor-trailer is in stable but critical condition at Albany Medical Center.
The tractor-trailer hit the concrete barrier separating the northbound and southbound lanes, which caused it to overturn onto a vehicle being driven by Keiley, State Police said. A passenger in Keiley’s vehicle was treated for non-lethal injuries and has since been discharged from the hospital.
Investigation into the accident is ongoing.
