Man gets 33 months for threatening to blow up plant

A Mayfield man gets 33 months for threatening to blow up a Glens Falls medical device plant.

A Mayfield man was sentenced on Wednesday to nearly 3 years in prison for threatening to blow up a medical supply manufacturing plant.

Jesse Bedell, of Mayfield, was found guilty in February of leaving voicemails and threatening to burn down and blow up the Glens Falls Medline Industries plant. He also threatened to kill the employee he called. The jury deliberated for just 20 minutes.

Bedell had said he was upset that the company had gone back on a job offer because he did not disclose that he had a misdemeanor petit larceny conviction. On Jan. 10, 2020, he called Medline employees in Neptune Jersey and Northfield, Illinois and made the threats. He also threatened to kill the employee in Illinois, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

His attorney argued his client was drunk when he left those messages. A jury convicted him after a three-day trial.

Bedell could have gotten 5 years in prison but was sentenced to 33 months.
