Schenectady man gets 7 years in prison for stabbing ex-girlfriend, boyfriend
A Schenectady man was sentenced on Friday to 7 years in prison for stabbing his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend at her home last year.
Dexter Silen pleaded guilty in April to two counts of first-degree attempted assault to satisfy a 10-count indictment for the Dec, 4, 2023 home invasion. Silen broke into her apartment and began to slash and stab at her and the new boyfriend, according to the Schenectady County District Attorney’s Office.
The victims’ injuries were not life-threatening.
Silen left the scene but was found by police the following day. He was still wearing clothes with the victims’ blood on them, police said.
Silen also must serve 5 years of post-release supervision and orders of protection were issued preventing him from contacting the victims.
