Police: Cohoes man drove while drunk and rammed patrol vehicle

A Cohoes man drove while drunk and led police on a chase over three counties, police said.

They tried to stop Steven L. Devlin just before 3:30 a.m. Tuesday on Church Hill Road in the town of Halfmoon. He stopped at first, police said, but took off and led investigators on a low-speed pursuit, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office.

The chase went through Waterford, Troy and onto 787 in Cohoes before he eventually stopped. A patrol vehicle was hit on purpose, investigators said.

Devlin was charged with DWI, operating a motor vehicle with 0.08% or greater blood alcohol level, failure to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle, aggravated unlicensed operation and circumventing to use an ignition interlock device.

He was released on an appearance ticket and due in Halfmoon Town Court at a later date. There may be additional charges, investigators said.
