Robert Danko is charged with false imprisonment and harassment.
He was arrested on Wednesday, just one week after being promoted to chief at the Cambridge-Greenwich police department.
The alleged victim is a woman who knows Chief Danko.
She spoke to Newschannel 13, but does not want to be identified.
She says the charges stem from an incident that happened last month between the two of them.
Danko is due in court at 5pm.
