Documents detail a fight that happened before an Albany mom allegedly told her 10-year-old child to stab her ex-boyfriend.
13 Investigates reporter Tessa Bentulan got her hands on documents on the case from Albany City Court.
This document includes the witness statement from the ex-boyfriend, who explains what he says happened that night.
The fight happened outside of Karissa Watkins’ home on North Manning Boulevard in Albany.
The ex-boyfriend says just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Watkins started walking towards his rental car. He asked her what she was doing near the car.
The documents state Watkins then started to back up and reach into the waistband behind her back. He noticed that she had a silver handgun, which turned out to be a 9 mm pistol.
The ex-boyfriend says he then grabbed her by the arm, pushed her down to the ground and was shaking her arm until she dropped the gun and kicked it under another car.
According to the documents, Watkins started telling her 10-year-old son, “Come stab him.”
The ex-boyfriend says he was stabbed in the right arm and slashed in the back, leaving a two-inch stab wound that needed to be operated on at Albany Medical Center.
The ex-boyfriend says he then told someone to call police.
Before they came, the document says Watkins tried to get the gun again, but the ex-boyfriend chased her so she couldn’t.
The documents don’t detail where the knife came from, that was allegedly used to stab the ex-boyfriend.
The documents say the ex was at Watkins’ home to pick up a child they share together – which is not the 10-year-old child involved in this incident.
