Two face drug charges after Moreau burglary call

Two people are facing drug charges after police responded to a burglary call in Moreau.

Officers responded to a burglary call at Lamplighter Acres on Aug. 1 around 4:40 p.m. Steven M. Fitzgerald, 42, of Lake Luzerne, and Melanie L. Chaney, 51, of Castleton on Hudson, allegedly had a narcotic drug and cocaine, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. They also are accused of having a scale used to weigh drugs.

Both were charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal use of drug paraphernalia.

They were arraigned in Moreau Town Court and released on their own recognizance.
