Albany County installs signs to denote ‘Purple Heart County’ status

Albany County has installed new signs to indicate they’re designated a “Purple Heart County.”

The county registered with the Military Order of the Purple Heart for this designation to recognize the “selfless service” of veterans and honor those who have been awarded the Purple Heart Medal.

“Honoring Purple Heart Veterans is not only our duty but a profound privilege. These Veterans have endured the scars of battle, both seen and unseen, to protect our community. We owe them a debt that can never fully be repaid, and this designation reflects our commitment to ensuring they receive the recognition and support they deserve,” Albany County Executive Dan McCoy said in a statement.
