Block party in Albany to honor Shaker High School student

Block party for Destiny Greene

An event is happening in the City of Albany to honor a high school student who was killed in a shooting in the city.

The mother of Destiny Greene is hosting a block party Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Krank Park in Albany.

Free backpacks filled with school supplies will be given out to students who attend the event.


There will also be free back-to-school haircuts.


Destiny was shot and killed on May 24, 2021.


The Shaker High School student was sitting in a car on Wilbur Street, when shots were fired during a robbery.


One man, Brandon Rivera was sentenced in her death.


Another man, Sincere Cancer, was arraigned earlier this month.
