Albany Police make second arrest in stolen dogs case

A second person has been arrested in connection with the theft of dogs from a porch in Albany.

Two French bulldogs were stolen from a home on the 200 block of Myrtle Avenue on the night of Aug. 4.

Shalon Jones, 46, had the 1-year-old French bulldog named Anya the night it was stolen, Albany Police said.

She has been charged with criminal possession of stolen property and hindering prosecution.

Jones was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Thursday afternoon and sent to the Albany County Jail.

Another suspect, 29-year-old Destiny Winslow, was arrested earlier this month.

The dogs went missing on Sunday, Aug. 4. A family member let the dogs out and they apparently escaped the side yard. Then, a neighbor told the owner, Alice Williams, that they saw a light-colored van pull up and take the dogs from the front of the house.

Neither Winslow nor Jones have been charged in the actual theft.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Animal Control Unit at 518-472-7107 or submit anonymous tips via Capital Region Crime Stoppers at www.capitalregioncrimestoppers.com.
