Columbia County woman guilty of trying to shoot state trooper

A Columbia County woman was found guilty Thursday of trying to shoot a state trooper in 2020.

Madison Kreutzer, 38, of Livingston, went to a town of Gallatin home in November 2020 and opened fire on the trooper. She was convicted after a jury trial of attempted murder, reckless endangerment, criminal trespass and prohibitions on use and possession of a firearm.

Kreutzer is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 5 and faces a prison term of 5 to 25 years.

The Columbia County District Attorney’s Office said that the verdict is justice for retired Zone Sgt. Paul Strobel.
