Queensbury traffic stop leads to weapons, drug charges

Two men face weapons charges after a Queensbury traffic stop.

Joseph Yarter, 27, was stopped in the area of Main Street for a traffic violation, late Thursday evening.

He didn’t have a valid driver’s license, police said. Troopers found numerous narcotics and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle, police said.

His passenger, Robert J. Miller, 22, had a loaded handgun that was illegal, said police, while Yarter allegedly had illegal metal knuckles.

Both were charged with criminal possession of a weapon and four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. Yarter faces vehicle and traffic violations.

Yarter was released on an appearance ticket and due in Queensbury Town Court on Sept. 16.

Miller was arraigned and sent to Warren County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash, $2,000 bond or $4,000 partially secured bond.
