Three teens arrested after crash of stolen vehicle in Albany

Three teens are facing charges after a crash involving a stolen vehicle in Albany. Officers saw three teens inside a stolen 2008 Mercedes Benz in the area of Catherine Street and Oneida Terrace. When passenger got out of the car with a gun, detectives approached the vehicle but he went back and the vehicle took off. The other two occupants of the vehicle got out on foot and ran to the area of State Street and South Swan Street, where they were caught, police said.

Officers saw three teens inside a stolen 2008 Mercedes Benz around Catherine Street and Oneida Terrace. When a passenger got out of the car with a gun, detectives approached the vehicle, but he went back, and the vehicle took off.

Two others left the car and ran. They were caught near State and South Swan streets, police said.

The 16-year-old driver drove west on Washington Avenue, hit several vehicles and crashed into a utility pole in Tivoli Park. He then ran into a nearby area before he was arrested.

One person had minor injuries.

Nah-queviar Wright, 19, of Albany, and Malachi Annan, 18, of Troy, have been charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property. Annan was previously arrested on a robbery charge on Sunday, Sept. 1 for allegedly displaying a BB gun and stealing $40 from a person around North Pearl and Steuben streets.

Annan and Wright were scheduled to be arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Tuesday morning.

The 16-year-old, whose name is not being released because of his age, has been charged with reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of a weapon and traffic violations. He is due to be arraigned in Albany County Family Court.
