Final goodbye underway for Voorheesville High grad shot in Virginia

Calling hours are Wednesday for James Lawitz, a man shot and killed in Virginia. A funeral will be held on Thursday.

Calling hours are Wednesday for James Lawitz, a Capital Region man shot and killed in Virginia.

Lawitz, 30, grew up in Albany and graduated from Voorheesville High School.

He was found shot and killed in Henrico County, Virginia.

Troy Vincent Charran Jr., 18, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in a felony.

The calling hours are Wednesday at the Daniel Keenan Funeral Home on Delaware Avenue in Albany, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The burial and service is at 9:30 Thursday morning at Albany Rural Cemetery.
