The Rensselaer Common Council has voted to override Mayor Mike Stammel’s veto, regarding the council’s decision to reduce Jason Schofield’s pay to just $100 a year.

Schofield is the former Rensselaer County Elections Board Commissioner who is currently awaiting sentencing for voter fraud.

Last month, we told you the council had proposed lowering Schofield’s pay from $40,000 a year to $100.

Rensselaer Mayor Mike Stammel vetoed that move, but the council held an emergency meeting to override the veto.

The veto was overridden by a vote of five to one.
