Halfmoon man sentenced to 17.5 years in prison for drug and firearm crimes

The US Attorney Northern District of NY Office says Anthony Luizzi, 24, of Halfmoon was sentenced on Tuesday to 17.5 years, or 210 months, in prison and payment of a $10,000 fine for gun and drug crimes.

This was in connection with Luizzi’s trafficking of large amounts of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine, and possession of more than 30 firearms, said the Attorney’s Office.

Luizzi pleaded guilty in March in connection to these crimes.

The Attorney’s Office says Luizzi admitted that he conspired to distribute and possesed with intent to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, and fentanyl from his residence in Halfmoon, as well as an apartment on Western Avenue in Albany.

The Attorney’s Office says law enforcement searched his apartment in Halfmoon on May 23, 2023 and discovered more than 11 kilograms of fentanyl pills, $2,616 in drug proceeds, and five firearms, including a shotgun with a defaced serial number.

Authorities say police also searched Luizzi’s apartment on Western Avenue on the same day and found 34 more firearms, 400 grams of fentanyl pills, more than 7,000 grams of pills containing methamphetamine, and more than 700 grams of cocaine.

US District Judge Anne Nardacci ordered that Luizzi serve a five-year term of supervised release after being released from prison, and ordered the forfeiture of $2,616 in cahs found at his Halfmoon residence.

The Attorney’s Office adds that two others were charged in connection to this investigation. One was sentenced on September 24, 2024 to 15 years in prison, and the other pled guilty on September 3 with a sentencing scheduled on January 6, 2025.
